Salvador: "I had to brake hard in the last corner, but I was able to close the door behind me"
Salvador saves his 2025 Riders’ Championship title hopes with his Race 2 win at Magny-Cours
David Salvador (Team ProDina XCI) emerged atop the rest of the field in France for his first FIM Supersport 300 World Championship race win of the 2025 campaign. The Madrid native looked strong at the French Round’s Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours as he landed a P2 in the Tissot Superpole session to open the weekend, stumbled somewhat to P6 in Race 1, but righted the ship in his Race 2 winning effort.
The 22-year-old has now topped the podium two times in his two seasons in WorldSSP300, and in his second season, he has shown clear growth from his rookie year. Salvador now sits in second place in the Championship, a leap forward from his 12th-place finish in 2024, and omitting his season-opening crash at Portimao, he averages a fourth-place finish so far across 2025’s nine races. With six races left in the season, Salvador sits in second place in the Riders’ Championship, 11 points behind Benat Fernandez (Team #109 Retro Traffic Kove) and his Kove package, well within striking distance, making for what’s shaping up to be an explosive finish to the WorldSSP300 season.
On his Race 2 win, and looking ahead to his home round in Aragon, Salvador said: “I’m super happy, this morning I had some problems with the engine in the Warm Up, but the team and I worked through them. On Sunday, the setup was a little different from the last few races. I feel good about it, and this is very positive for the future. In the last lap, I tried to push a lot. I had to brake hard in the last corner, but I was able to close the door behind me, and it helped me get the win. Aragon is the home round for us; I know this track well. The most important thing now is to avoid mistakes during the weekend. For the moment, I feel good, the team is working well, so we are feeling positive.”
